Just received this e-mail from a member of a local homebrew club.

"I got setup by someone here in Alabama last night, got arrested, and
then there was a raid at my home in Blount Co. earlier today. They
confiscated all my homebrewing equipment, kegerator, and all the beer.
If anyone can help me out or give some advice please help. I'm
probably going to need a really good lawyer."

It's interesting to note that it was the Sheriff and not the Alcoholic Beverage Control board that conducted the raid. Blount is a dry county just north of Birmingham, BTW.

Count yourself fortunate if homebrewing is legal where you live.

Dude, that sucks!

We just got some great legislature passed here in Louisiana giving us the most liberal homebrewing laws in the US.
It was never really illegal, there were just no laws saying it was legal.

I really hope ya'll can get things changed, that really is a travesty.

Heavy stuff. As with anything that stretches rules, keep that stuff on the low and to yourself and select few. Perhaps Alabama needs a new organisation: Alabama Clandestine Bererages. Seriously, that is wrong and the law enforcers should have better things to do.
