I went to hopleaf last night (best bar in chicago) and there were...lemme see...7 sour beers on tap

and oud beersel framboise

of course i had one of each except the framboise and the monk's cafe (the framboise cause it's for girls and the monk's because i've had it a million times) and sent the dude an email saying thank you for offering so many excellent sour beers. i dunno what it's like where you live, but around here it's not that easy to find sour beers at a bar even in bottles, not to mention taking up space on the tap when they could have yet another IPA (which, by the way, they only had 2 of: pizza port hop 15 and alpha king, and only 1 APA: the excellent daisy cutter from Half Acre).

so if we're seeing the inevitable hop-bomb backlash i've only got one thing to say. booya.

I'm ready! Bring it on!

Two of the local pico-breweries are souring some beers in their basements. Next year there should be some sour beers on tap here. There are a couple of pubs in Portland that have their own Flanders styles on tap. I haven't heard any one locally importing kegs.

I brewed a Flanders Red this weekend. Now the waiting game begins...........

I absolutely love hopleaf for that reason. had the chance to drink a cantillon there.

FYI Phil: Map Room currently has Cantillon Classic Gueuze on tap. I doubt it will last long.

are there any good bars in naperville? my brother and parents live there, and from what i can tell they never go out to drink. the red door used to be a cozy little place downtown that had a couple halfway decent beers on tap (i think oberon, and redhook esb) but it went out of business

yea, I love the Grumpy Bulldog. Its in downtown Naperville. They have a shit ton of bottles and an always rotating tap selection. Front Street Cantina is a block away. It is a great mexican restaurant with a great beer selection. There is also a place in Plainfield called Finnegans....excellent selection of rotating taps.

Had a Russian River Temptation at Hamilton's last night...It was truely amazing. Even at $10 a glass, it's well worth the price! Cheers!
