Does boiling improve hopped beer kit.

Fri Jun 24, 2011 12:12 pm

I have a Coopers stout kit. This my second brew. I am not planning to add any hops or malts (maybe just some cocca powder).

The kit instructions say to add the kit to the boiling water then take off the heat and stir. No need to boil as they say this will only drive off the hop aromatics present in the extract.

Most advice I have seen in books and online says that boiling the kit will improve the beer quality.

Here is my question. Do kits need to be boiled if not adding 'extras'.
Does boiling improve the finished product. If so how.

Cheers and beers :aaron
