If your lid is secure and you have airlock activity, don't worry about it. In general, rehydrate in water.

How long has it been since you pitched? Fairly often the plastic buckets aren't sealed up and the CO2 is escaping under the lid or around the grommet, so you are still fermenting, just not bubbling. The CO2 will always take the easiest way out. If you've got krausen up on top, you may be fine...

About 48 hours. I had expected that it would be at least visible in the airlock by now, but if the lid isn't sealed... Thanks for the advice.
